FAQ's

What is the difference between products I purchase at Prescription Lab and products available at grocery stores and membership clubs?

We can’t speak for every other product out there, but we can say this: At Prescription Lab, every single product on the shelf has been evaluated by a pharmacist and a wellness expert to be one of the very best available. Its performance and content are backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee. And if you have a question about how to use that product, there are Certified Health Advisors at the Lab, who are ready to answer your questions. That’s hard to come by at the grocery store.

How is a compounding pharmacy different from a regular pharmacy?

Traditional pharmacies fill prescriptions by moving medicine from one container to the one you take home. Every prescription that’s filled at Prescription Lab is made from scratch, right here at the Lab. And because it’s made from scratch, it can be customized to the exact needs of the patient.

There are many cases where compounding can benefit the patient:

  • The patient requires a customized dose of a medication
  • The patient has difficulty taking a medication in its commercially available form
  • The patient needs a medicine that has been discontinued by the manufacturer
  • The patient is allergic to certain agents used to make a medication
  • The patient takes many medications and would benefit from having them combined

A compounding pharmacist can change the shape, size, flavor, dose and form of a prescription medication by re-creating it in the lab. Bitter medicines can be made to taste sweet. Capsules can be replaced with a liquid. An oral medication can even be transformed into a topical medication, which is simply rubbed into the skin. For every medication challenge, there’s a compounded solution.

And the benefits of compounding are not limited to people. Veterinary compounding is available for animals of all kinds. The pills your pet refuses to take willingly can be turned into a flavored treat they’ll love.

How do I transfer my prescription from another pharmacy to Prescription Lab?

Simply give us a call at 520-886-1035 and we’ll take care of everything.

I’m interested in Bio-Identical Hormone Replenishment (BHRT), but my current physician is unfamiliar with it. What next?

Speak with Jane Rosenbaum, our resident BHRT expert. She can speak with your physician, or refer you to one that’s more familiar with BHRT.

Do you have any treatment options for Osteoporosis?

We do. In fact, we have a resident osteoporosis expert in Dana Kurland. Dana conducts one-on-one consultations for osteoporosis. Give her a call at 520-886-1035 to schedule a consultation.

I’m interested in supplementing my diet with vitamins, but I don’t know where to begin. Can you help?

We can. Come in to the Lab anytime and speak with one of our Certified Health Advisors for basic information on what’s available and where to start.

For a more in-depth, personalized approach, you can also schedule a consultation with our resident nutritional expert, Rosalee Abbott-Seder. Just stop by or give her a call at 520-886-1035 to schedule an appointment.
